CONGRATULATIONS – CHARLES RAICHLE
2025 COLORADO BACKGAMMON
DENVER PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The Denver Backgammon League is intended to add an additional incentive to regular weekly, monthly and invitational tournament play. This league is entirely volunteer with personal commitments to making this a fantastic experience, while working towards growing the backgammon community. League tournaments are played both at live venues and online. Online tournaments are played on Backgammon Studio Heroes Server 3 (temporarily suspended). All Tournament play requires USBGF membership. Tournament rules governing play are posted on the USBGF website. The league director reserves the right to modify league rules, team representation and player of the year nominations.
Denver League Rules: You must be a Colorado resident to participate in Denver league scoring. League play occurs LIVE once a week and occasionally monthly. The format will either be Swiss with 5-7 point matches or progressive consolation or modified double elimination, with 7-9 point matches for the main and 5 point matches for the consolation or fighters bracket. Typically, payouts for 10 players or more will be a minimum of 3 places and payouts for 7-9 players will pay two places. No league play for fewer than 7 players. League play, including alternate tournaments, payouts and scoring, may be modified at the discretion of the director.
Check out Meetup for dates, times and locations of all league events.
Winner Determination: The Colorado Backgammon Denver Player of the Year will be based on the best of three, 9 point LIVE matches between the Denver Player that has earned the most Points between January 1, 2026 and June 30, 2026, and the Denver player that has earned the most points between July 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026, as determined by the Colorado Backgammon Denver League Scoring.
Accolades: 2026 Colorado Backgammon Denver Player of the Year will receive a custom Doubling Cube, free entry into the 2027 Wild West Shootout (side pool and reg. fee not included) and nominated as Colorado Player of the Year (and included in PrimeTime Backgammon in the Winter 2026 issue).
