WINTER TOURNAMENT INFO
DECEMBER 30, 2023
MODIFIED DOUBLE ELIMINATION

December 30 will be here in no time, so include the first tournament of the year as part of your plans, and it’s big! If you’re looking to start the year off with a bang and show off your skills, or just have a good time, please join us.

The Colorado Backgammon Club is including $200 in added money. In addition, the USBGF is once again teaming up with local clubs for the Local Club Initiative (LCI), which is promoting 30 BG clubs across the US to ultimately have one member from each club compete online. As a member of the USBGF, the Colorado Backgammon Club and a Colorado resident, you are eligible. The Colorado State Winter Invitational Open Champion will be representing our Colorado Club in the Online LCI National Championship. Last year’s Colorado LCI winner was Jonah Seewald. The winners from each club will compete online beginning March, 2024. The winner and runner up (aside from bragging rights) will receive a free entry and half entry respectively, into an ABT event of their choice (NO player substitutions and you must maintain your USBGF status.)

So, save your spot in what will be a fabulous tournament and a great time!

Again, you must be a member of the U.S. Backgammon Federation and a Colorado resident to play. Basic USBGF membership is $45 per year. You may join at: http://usbgf.org/membership/join/

Invitational means you’re invited unless you’re uninvited.
Open players must play in the Open division, no playing down.

We may limit, modify or combine divisions to manageable bracket numbers (i.e. 16, 24, etc.) To ensure your spot, please RSVP early.

We use ABT rules. This means dice on checkers are good and legal moves. For further details, see http://usbgf.org/docs/rules.pdf

Location is the Hangar 101. There is often a Chouette before and after the tournament. Food and beverages are available after 2:00 and can be ordered at the bar.

COVID-19: As of now, there are no restrictions. However, be prepared to wear a mask should restrictions be reinstated. Keep our community safe.

So, save your spot in what will be a fabulous tournament and a great time!
